NEWSLETTER 24TH October 2015 With just one week to go till the museum closes for the winter, following the autumn Half Term holiday, I thought I would just write a few words about the summer of 2015, or perhaps the lack of it!! Wonderful spring weather and early summer brought a severe sting in the tail with the wettest August on record and July was not particularly good. However the museum has been very busy throughout the season and the busiest days we have ever had were on the wettest days in August. Development work was put on hold for the duration but will resume after we close on the 1st November. Group visits have increased again this year along with schools experiencing our WW11 programme. Just last week we had two schools visit us and ATC Cadets on camp at RAF St Mawgan. Airfield Tours on Marlene the crew bus were full right up to the last one at the end of September when we had to turn away 4 people who had turned up on ‘spec’. As the literature says ‘pre-booking is essential’. Grateful thanks to all our visitors, many of whom we see come back time and again. Hope to see you again in 2016 when you can check out what we have been doing over the winter. I promise you we have some ambitious plans, fingers crossed for the weather. Grateful thanks also to all our volunteers who help make it all happen. We wish you all a good winter and although I cringe at the thought of it this early, Happy Christmas to you all. Regards Steve & Sheila Perry |
