The museum has been laid out in such a way so as to minimise
any risks to members of the public, group visits, school visits
and museum volunteers.
All buildings are connected by concrete or other hard paths and
surfaces. Ramps are fitted at a few entrances with secure hand
rails.
There are some displays on the grass areas and care should be
taken when the grass is wet.
There are numerous fire bells around the site which are easy to
use. The Emergency Assembly Point is clearly signed.
Toilets are well signed and the disabled toilet meets the
relevant regulations.
Doors to buildings are secured open in most cases. Those that
may not be are of the push through type with ‘soft closing’ or
are standard doors.
Fire bells and smoke detectors are fitted where regulations
require.
School groups receive a H & S briefing on arrival.
School groups are supervised throughout their stay, by their
own supervisors and a member of the museum staff.
